Traditional Living Room

When beginning the remodel of the living room, the intention was to keep the space in line with the traditional style of this colonial, with elevated elements that make a statement. Since this was the first room in view upon walking in, it was essential that it set the tone and was an accurate introduction to this home’s unique story. With the addition of arched built-ins paired with oak shelving, a limestone fireplace, and picture molding, the vibe was set. We kept the furniture and decorative elements light, airy, and textured, creating room that is equal parts livable and inviting.

The rattan lamp was one of the first “jump off” pieces when beginning the design process. We used wood frame accent chairs in line with the fireplace for optimal, cozy views.

Light linen curtains keep the room as light and airy and possible during all seasons.

When designing the built-ins, the decision for arched details was a no brainer, adding an element of softness to the space. Fluted, ceramic sconces were brought in to offer soft mood lighting during the evening hours.

Textured, brass hardware served as the final touch on the cabinets.

Picture molding and a limestone surround were used to add depth to space.

Decor that varies in shape and texture was used to bring interest and character to the built-in cabinets.
